Acceptance of any contribution, gift, or grant is at the discretion of Hiilosom. Hiilosom will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended in alignment with the purpose and mission of the gender-based violence prevention project. No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in nature, will be accepted if, under any reasonable circumstances, the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

Hiilosom will refrain from offering advice on the tax or other treatment of donations and encourages donors to seek guidance from their professional advisors before making a donation. The organization will accept donations in the form of cash or publicly traded securities. In-kind gifts will be accepted at the discretion of Hiilosom.

Certain gifts, such as real property, personal property, non-liquid securities, or contributions with conditions or restrictions, may require review prior to acceptance due to potential liabilities or obligations. The organization will provide appropriate acknowledgments to donors in accordance with tax requirements for gifts received but will not assign a monetary value to non-cash gifts except for publicly traded securities.

The intent of donors regarding restricted gifts and anonymity will be respected. For anonymous gifts, information about the donor will be restricted to necessary staff only. Hiilosom will not compensate third parties for directing a gift or donor to the organization.
